Philippians Overview

• Philippians is a practical look into our faith as we live our lives daily.
• Written about 60-62 AD, around the same time as Ephesians.
• Written by Paul while imprisoned in Rome.
• Church founded in Europe (modern day Greece) by Paul on his second missionary journey around AD 50 (Acts 16:11-40).
• Phillipi was a colony of Rome, so its citizens were given special privileges.
• The magistrates could have been in grave danger had Paul reported their beating of a Roman citizen without a trial (Acts 16:35-40).
• One of the few churches that sent out support to Paul (Philippians 4:15).
• History has it that Luke was the pastor the first six years.
